Augmenting research capacity at SDSU and SDSU IV through research ethics training and consultation programs.

About the Program

Funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health (U54MD012397), our Ethics Training Initiative develops and delivers training and consultation programs to help SDSU and SDSU IV researchers better understand regulations of clinical trials and implement ethical principles related to human subjects’ research and engagement with underrepresented groups.

Introduction to Responsible Conduct in Research Workshop

This workshop is to introduce attendees to the basic ethical issues confronting scientists in biomedical and clinical research and provide an overview of policies and principles guiding human research. What you’ll learn:

  • The need for human research subject protections.
  • Policies regarding human subjects.
  • Principles guiding human research ethics: Autonomy, Beneficence, Non-maleficence, and Justice.

Responsible Authorship and Integrity in Publishing

Completed

Participants will:

  • Identify the foundations of ethical and responsible research publication.
  • Clarify authorship roles and responsibilities.
  • Apply practical tools for ethical decision-making.
