San Diego State University (SDSU) is seeking an experienced implementation scientist to join our growing implementation science research community.
We invite applications from scholars across disciplines, with particular interest in candidates who have an established program of dissemination and implementation research focused on minority and health disparities research.
SDSU seeks to hire a tenure-track/tenured faculty member (Associate or Full Professor) with established expertise in Implementation Science.
The successful candidate will join SDSU’s growing implementation science research community and serve as a core faculty member and contributor to the SDSU HealthLINK Center for Transdisciplinary Health Research, an NIH/NIMHD-funded U54 Center.

Co-Leader, Intervention Methods Group and Recruitment Team
Dr. Elva Arredondo is a Professor in the School of Public Health at SDSU. She is the Co-Leader of the Intervention Methods Group and Recruitment Team. Dr. Arredondo’s research is in the area of health disparities. Her research focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of community-based interventions that improve the health of various communities. She has served as an investigator in studies that promoted healthy eating and physical activity behaviors in youth and in adult populations and in studies that identified effective and sustainable methods to prevent and control cancer in specific populations.
Co-Leader, Recruitment Team
Dr. Goldenberg is a Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health and Co-Director of the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health (Epidemiology). Her research interests include addressing the HIV/STI prevention, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and substance use-related needs of marginalized women and communities. She has led and collaborated on federally funded observational, intervention, and implementation science studies addressing these topics.

Dr. Dickson is an Associate Professor of Psychology at College of Arts and Sciences in University of Oregon and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University. Her expertise is in implementation science, including implementation methodology and research, including as part of multiple large-scale community partnered implementation projects and major universitywide transdisciplinary projects on public health crises ranging from water pollution to heat prevention.

Dr. Kristen “Kristi” Wells is a Professor of Psychology at SDSU. She is also Director of the Cancer Disparities and Cancer Communication Lab. Her graduate training was in clinical psychology and public health, followed by post-doctoral training in behavioral oncology. Her research focuses on improving the quality of healthcare delivered to various populations, with a specific specialty in patient navigation. Since 2006, Dr. Wells has led or contributed to five studies which have developed and evaluated patient navigation interventions to improve quality of care. She also leads studies developing technological solutions to improve adherence to recommended cancer care and oral medications for cancer. In addition to her leadership as a Co-Director, Dr. Wells oversees the operations of the SDSU HealthLINK Center’s Research Capacity Team including five specialized research groups concentrating on measurement methods, health sensor methods, intervention methods, biomedical methods, and health data analytics. She is the MPI Liaison for the Faculty Recruitment Team.

Alexis Osuna is a graduate student completing her Master’s degree at SDSU and serves as a Research Coordinator for the Faculty Recruitment Team. Her research experience spans academic and medical settings, with a focus on health disparities research, prevention, and community-engaged research. She has a particular interest in implementation science and translational research.
